Choosing a Business Idea

Test an idea against demand, skill and margin before you build it.

A viable idea sits where three things overlap: a problem people already pay to solve, something you can competently deliver, and a price that leaves margin after costs.

Write the customer before you write the product. If you cannot name a specific person who has the problem, you have a hobby, not an offer.

Validate with conversations and pre-orders, not with expensive setup. The cheapest test wins.

Key takeaways

  • Demand, capability and margin must overlap.
  • Name the customer before the product.
  • Validate cheaply before you invest.
